University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee
Completed coursework in computer science, mathematics, and quantitative methods, developing foundations in programming, logical reasoning, and mathematics.
I am Yi Ma, currently pursuing an M.S. in Computer Science at the University of Southern California. I previously earned a B.S. in Statistics and Mathematics and an M.S. in Statistics at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. My interests connect statistical modeling, software engineering, and manufacturing data, from framing a problem to building a practical tool.
My academic and development projects include statistical analysis, content recommendation, online booking, mobile music applications, and document question answering. At an industrial gas manufacturer, I contributed to data preparation, predictive modeling, and inventory dashboards. These experiences strengthened my focus on model reliability, system usability, and clear communication with business users.
My manufacturing work has resulted in six registered software works, with related methods presented in an implementation framework white paper. I also contribute to the Zhiwei Forum's Academic Advisory Committee, deliver technical presentations, and review projects, discussing approaches to cost forecasting and supply-chain anomaly monitoring and the conditions in which they apply.
Completed coursework in computer science, mathematics, and quantitative methods, developing foundations in programming, logical reasoning, and mathematics.
Earned a bachelor's degree at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, with coursework in probability, statistics, regression, experimental design, mathematics, and computing.
Completed the Statistics and Data Science program at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, strengthening skills in statistical learning, predictive modeling, validation, and large-scale data processing.
Developed six V1.0 software works addressing costs, expenses, inventory, supply, purchasing, and profit.
Pursuing a master's degree in computer science, building expertise in algorithms, systems design, computer networks, information retrieval, and software engineering.
At an industrial gas manufacturer, I contributed to customer data preparation, predictive modeling, and inventory visualization. This experience connected classroom methods with business needs and reinforced the importance of tools that nontechnical users can understand and use.
I helped clean customer data, handle missing values and outliers, prepare features, and train predictive models.
I contributed to an industrial gas inventory dashboard and adjustable model settings, helping users explore stock changes and analytical results.
I prepared analytical reports and technical documentation to explain methods, findings, and tool usage to nontechnical colleagues.
My training in statistics and mathematics, together with projects on taxi tipping, classification, and factorial experiments, has developed my skills in data processing, model comparison, and interpretation.
